Only when all these questions have been answered and analyses have been carried out to determine the cloud solution’s optimum design, roadmap and target architecture do we begin with the migration. Ensuring this phase goes off without a hitch is quite the challenge and often underestimated, which is why this step has to be considered very carefully.
When migrating your data to the new infrastructure, the question of which historical data should be moved often arises, and once this has been clarified, the next step is a test and optimisation phase during which we make sure that everything works as it is supposed to. We then round everything off by assessing the need for cloud monitoring and set up on-demand support if required.
For all of this to happen, projects need to be prioritised during the migration, an analysis of the risks and benefits carried out, enterprise workflows synchronised, resources planned, data backed up and the roadmap continually tweaked. The whole cloud implementation is managed in accordance with the PRINCE2 project management methodology, which monitors all phases of the project right up until the solution is fully technically integrated.
