Neckarsulm, 06 September 2024 – 286 vocational trainees and university students in dual-study programmes have joined Bechtle for the new academic year. Across the group, the European IT company is training a total of 873 young people—more than ever before—in 13 technical and commercial career paths and 11 dual-study programmes with the aim of keeping them on at the end of their respective courses. People development is one of the strategic action areas in Bechtle’s Sustainability Strategy and part of the IT partner’s CSR activities and Bechtle has been taking on trainees for nearly 40 years, boasting its own Academy with extensive further study and qualification programmes.
“We’re very happy to be welcoming so many young people to our company once again. In an age of skilled labour shortages, we have a responsibility to support the younger generation as best we can, providing them with a solid foundation for their professional development. Their fresh perspectives are a valuable asset for Bechtle and our future together,” says Dr Thomas Olemotz, CEO, Bechtle AG.
Wide range of future-oriented professions
Bechtle offers young people a wide spectrum of 13 professions, with commercial and technical paths covering fields such as e-commerce, IT systems management, digitalisation management, marketing communications, IT systems technicians and other technical specialisations, as well as warehouse logistics. In partnership with cooperative universities, Bechtle offers students a total of nine economic and technical courses, including digital commerce management, international business, business informatics, information technology, online media, and cybersecurity.
Technical training and business studies coming out on top
While vocational trainees are following more technical careers, university students are gravitating towards business. There are currently a total of 451 trainees (previous year: 429) on technical and 287 (previous year: 316) on commercial career paths. In terms of dual students, 84 (previous year: 81) have opted for an economic programme while 51 (previous year: 43) have chosen more technical options. The vast majority of the 745 (previous year: 741) vocational trainees and dual-study students are spread across Bechtle’s German locations. Here, the trainee ratio is 6.7 per cent (previous year: 7.0 per cent), which Bechtle aims to increase to 10 per cent by 2030.
Into the future together
Bechtle begins every trainee year with a kick-off event at their headquarters in Neckarsulm, to foster a sense of togetherness right from the start and invite newcomers to build personal networks across locations. Participants get to know Bechtle’s centralised service units and gain insights into the company’s brand and corporate culture. This event marks the beginning of a series of seminars from the Bechtle Academy that run throughout the course of a traineeship, concluding with dedicated exam preparation courses. Moreover, a mentoring programme helps trainees and students integrate into the company more quickly and smoothly.
