Neckarsulm, 12 March 2024 – With its Location Rotation programme, Bechtle is offering its employees the opportunity to enjoy short periods working from different Bechtle sites. After a successful pilot phase in 2023, the IT company is launching the programme at 15 of its companies throughout Europe. Besides promoting interdisciplinary cooperation, the programme seeks to foster personal growth by allowing employees to discover new ways of working and living while improving their language skills and strengthening their national and international networks. Contrary to a Job Rotation programme, which sees employees change where they work and what they do, Location Rotation allows staff to continue their usual tasks from a different site.
“Location Rotation was a decisive factor in choosing Bechtle as my employer. Working in Dublin allowed me to gain some valuable insights into business at Bechtle, meet interesting people and discover some amazing nature,” says Leopold Stoll, Account Manager, formerly of Bechtle in Munich, now at the Neckarsulm IT system house. A total of 15 Bechtle locations in eight countries have signed up to the programme, namely Aveiro (Portugal), Berlin, Friedrichshafen, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Neckarsulm (Germany), Brussels (Belgium), Dublin (Ireland), Eindhoven and Maastricht (Netherlands), Madrid (Spain), Paris, Roissy-en-France and Nice (France), and Vienna (Austria).
Legally-compliant flexibility and self-service
Location Rotation is aimed at all employees with a permanent contract whose tasks can be carried out in different locations. Information is provided and the authorisation process handled in a standardised, self-service platform set up specifically for the programme. As long as their manager is on board, interested employees can use it to find information on the location they wish to visit and book a period of two to four weeks at any free desk. Crucially, all legal formalities are taken into account. “It’s our goal to win people for Bechtle in the long term by keeping them happy and motivated and Location Rotation is a very modern way of doing so,” says Verena Eberler, International People Development Specialist, Bechtle AG.
International study project sparked inspiration
The programme was inspired by an international project of the Campus Founders Heilbronn, who aim to promote a leading community of entrepreneurs and innovators among students and support them as they found their own startups. The Corporate Campus Challenge saw over 100 students from all over the globe apply for the oversubscribed project. A total of 21 teams were created, all with the goal of addressing issues faced by the companies involved and developing solutions for them. Bechtle’s Location Rotation project involved five teams working independently of each other with the winning team there to see the project come to life and provide support when needed.
