Neckarsulm/Neu-Ulm, 3 September 2024 – Bechtle AG has acquired s.i.g. System Informations Gesellschaft mbH headquartered in Neu-Ulm and with satellite offices in Erfurt and Jena. Founded in 1997, the IT system house and its 50 employees achieved revenues of 25.4 million euros in the last fiscal year. Well-established in the region, the acquisition expands Bechtle’s market position in the economic area around Ulm in the south of Germany, bolstering its portfolio with the addition of industrial information technology, i.e. custom IT infrastructure and network solutions for the manufacturing industry. The purchase also marks the continuation of Bechtle’s growth strategy in the administrative region of Swabia. Bechtle is currently building an office complex and car park on its future IT campus near to Neu-Ulm’s University of Applied Science, which will become home to 300 staff when it is completed in the first quarter of 2026. The plan foresees s.i.g. moving into the modern campus along with the Bechtle Group’s three other companies in the region.
By joining the Bechtle Group, s.i.g. is not only securing consistent management into the future, but the integration with Germany’s largest IT system house will also enhance its ability to gain market share and expand its own portfolio. Founded 27 years ago in Ulm, the company enjoys an outstanding reputation in its industry and among its customers, which include mid-sized companies as well as large enterprises, the public sector and the healthcare industry. The company's portfolio covers workplace, server and storage solutions as well as an industrial IT division which delivers custom development and hardware deployment services for specific production environments. All s.i.g. locations will be maintained with the move into Bechtle’s IT Future Hub in Neu-Ulm along with the IT provider’s other companies scheduled for early 2026.
The founder of s.i.g. and outgoing managing director, Guido Fetzer, will initially remain with the company alongside his co-MD, Eugen Straub, and work closely with the management team and staff to ensure undisrupted service for its customers. The company name s.i.g. will also remain unchanged for the time being.
“It is essential for us that we remain a reliable partner for our customers and an attractive employer for our staff, which is why we have taken great care in planning the next steps for our company. Bechtle AG’s extensive portfolio and entrepreneurial focus on German SMEs in particular make it the perfect partner for us in every regard,” says Guido Fetzer.
“In s.i.g., Bechtle has gained an excellently run company with outstanding specialists. We firmly believe that s.i.g. and Bechtle will enjoy above-average growth in the Neu-Ulm economic region,” says Oliver Hambrecht, Executive Vice President for Southwest Germany and Austria, Bechtle AG.
The acquisition is subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities. The purchase price and conditions remain confidential, as usual.
