Verein Sonnhalde Gempen – A fully managed data centre for Sonnhalde Gempen: 360° swiss cube.

Challenge.

The staff at Sonnhalde Gempen look after the people entrusted to their care in a sensitive, committed and highly professional manner, so that they can develop their individual abilities and assets to the greatest possible extent. 
 
Their commitment is supported by the IT infrastructure, which, among other things, has to store and process the sensitive data of the residents. Like the buildings, the IT must also be constantly adapted to new requirements. The Sonnhalde Association therefore not only wanted to renew the structural conditions of the kindergarten, schools and training centres for people with autism. The IT processes were also to be reorganised and the ageing IT infrastructure replaced. Instead of simply relying on a new hardware base, Bechtle, as a regionally anchored IT service provider with extensive cloud experience, convinced the management with an offer for a fully managed data centre infrastructure. It met all the requirements of Sonnhalde Gempen: stable systems, high data protection and security, and good operating performance. 

Solution.

In joint workshops, Sonnhalde Gempen and Bechtle worked out the exact requirements for a solution that would suit the association. It quickly became clear that the 360° swiss cube offered by Bechtle covered all requirements. The Sonnhalde Gempen association thus relies on a data centre infrastructure that is completely managed by Bechtle and where the servers are no longer located in-house. Instead, they are located in an exceptionally secure Green data centre in Switzerland and are 99.9 per cent available. Servers from Dell Technologies work in it, providing a hyper-convergent infrastructure thanks to Dell VxRail. Dell VxRail was developed together with VMware, is optimised for VMware vSAN and enables comprehensive integration into the entire VMware environment. Sonnhalde Gempen benefits here from the strategic partnership between Dell Technologies, the Green Datacenter and Bechtle Schweiz AG: the three node clusters used by the association are fully redundant in themselves and can be flexibly configured and expanded. They combine processing, storage, virtualisation and the management of the entire network (HCI). The sensitive data of the Sonnhalde Association as well as the entire applications are stored in the private cloud and are protected by up-to-date security solutions. For all other data, Bechtle set up a secure public cloud at Sonnhalde Gempen. 

At Sonnhalde Gempen, almost everything in IT has changed thanks to the 360° swiss cube: the data storage itself, the security of the data and sufficient space for it are always guaranteed. Sonnhalde Gempen can rely on this. The server infrastructure is taken care of by Bechtle and no longer by the association - highly professional and solution-oriented. A contact person is always available at Bechtle for the IT at Sonnhalde Gempen, so that the system can also be scaled quickly. This allows the employees to concentrate on caring for the people entrusted to them.
