Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Lucas, I’m 28 and I recently became a Data Analyst at Bechtle.
What was it like when you joined Bechtle?
I started out at Bechtle at the end of 2014 (more than eight years ago) to help develop the intranet.
What was your career path?
After school I completed an advanced technician’s certificate where I mainly learned about computer programming.
After that, I was keen to get into the world of work straight away and accepted a three month contract at Bechtle. As this drew to a close, I was offered a permanent position in web development and IT support.
At the end of 2022, I had the opportunity to change role to become a data analyst, one which I took with pleasure.
What does your current role involve?
I interpret, analyse and evaluate the company’s figures to find areas to improve and develop the business.
What qualities are required to be a data analyst in your opinion?
You have to be meticulous, responsive, analytical, and be capable of conveying a coherent vision of the company’s business trends I also think that in development, you should never rest on your laurels. It’s a field that evolves very quickly and needs you to stay up to date on the latest developments.
Have you been able to acquire any new skills since starting at Bechtle?
Since joining Bechtle I’ve been able to broaden my knowledge of IT development, but also about the IT world in general.
What is the next step on your Bechtle journey?
As I’ve just started my new role, I’d say for the time being that I’d like to get really good in this field as well as (finally) improving my level of English.
Which three words best describe Bechtle?
Togetherness, diversity, evolution.
But enough talk about work! Do you have any hobbies?
I love to travel. I’m currently planning a road trip through Greece and a visit to Japan for spring 2024.
I’m also a sports fan, mostly football—I played it for a long time, too.
Lastly, it’s not that original, but I love playing video games.
How would your friends and family describe you?
I have absolutely no idea!
The film that everyone needs to see?
The must-see cult film has to be Forrest Gump. My personal favourites are Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Your favourite food?
Sushi!
And is there anything else we should know about you?
Before starting with football, I used to play handball in Sélestat (Alsace). We had the opportunity to take part in the Swedish Partille Cup—the biggest global youth handball tournament.
I wasn’t very good, but it was still a great experience!
