Could you tell us a few words about you?
My name is Gaëlle and I’m 28. I’ll turn 29 on the 6 April if you’d like to get me a present, and I’m a management assistant at Bechtle.
What was it like when you joined Bechtle?
To cut a long story short, I joined the company in 2012 at the age of 18 as a receptionist.
How did your career go on from there?
I’ve had the chance to get to know various jobs at Bechtle. I started out as a receptionist and then switched roles to become executive assistant to Franck Gentzbittel, sharing the role with Frédérique Dail.
Then, I took care of our returns service together with Mathieu Freiss.
Later, I had the opportunity to work in administration and contract management for our printing business unit. At the same time, I was working alongside Paul managing Dauphin orders for EDF.
After that, Lotfi Hamadi suggested creating a totally new team (consisting of myself and him) to optimise incoming orders of our sales reps.
Finally, now I’ve returned to my original department, Administrative Services, as a management assistant.
What does your current role involve?
Together with my team, I’m entrusted with a great variety of things.
- Managing customer/supplier invoices
- Customer service (helping with returns, claims, double deliveries)
- Supporting sales reps requiring help with admin.
What’s your biggest challenge in your day-to-day work?
There are several!
- Collecting all the information we need to invoice our customers
- And in terms of customer service—finding the quickest way of resolving any issues they may have to their complete satisfaction.
In your opinion, what should a person bring to the table if they wanted to work in Invoicing & Admin Support?
I think there are quite a few qualities they should have:
precision, organisation, good social skills, patience, team spirit. And above all… being able to have a laugh!
Have you been able to acquire any new skills since starting at Bechtle?
I was very young when I started out at Bechtle and I’ve grown a lot thanks to the team that’s been around me since the beginning.
Above all, though, I’d say my capacity to adapt. Each time I was allowed to take on a new role, I learned to grow into it.
And of course my ability to handle stress and getting out of my comfort zone to find solutions when I encounter difficulties.
What’s the next step in your Bechtle journey?
I’m more than happy in my current role. It’s not very ambitious to say it, but I think I’ve tried out enough positions and I think now I’m really where I belong!
Which three words would you use to describe Bechtle?
Gained some weight…!
But enough about work. Do you have any hobbies?
I’ve been playing football with a club for many years, and I have a fan pass for “The Kop”—the west stand of the Meinau stadium.
I also used to do horseback riding and still love the sport.
How would your friends and family describe you?
Always positive, quite funny, generous.
What film does everyone need to see?
The Harry Potter films!
Your favourite dish?
Pasta! In all its different shapes and with lots of parmesan!
And is there anything else we should know about you?
I’ve been to a Hansi Hinterseer concert… Here’s a link to save you having to Google him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxznsC_BoOo
