What was the impetus behind this project?
We spoke to Marco Pollie, ICT Director at HVO-Querido who explained that the organisation often suffered IT outages and long lead times when it came to solutions for technical issues as a result of the outdated IT environment. There was also the problem that the organisation didn’t really have an overview of its hardware assets leading to inefficiencies and unnecessary costs, and, as a small team, the IT department was struggling to keep up with the increasing demand for mobile devices.

About HVO-Querido
HVO-Querido is a welfare organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable people in society. With some 1,800 employees across 60 sites in and around Amsterdam, HVO-Querido offers a wide range of services, including social care, sheltered housing, and outpatient counselling. What was the solution offered?
Bechtle offered a hybrid DaaS (Device as a Service) solution designed to HVO-Querido’s specific needs, optimising the CMDB (Configuration Management Database) and setting up a clear SLA (Service Level Agreement). The solution included:
- Replacing obsolete hardware with new notebooks and mobile phones
- Implementing a dedicated help desk for fast support
- The delivery and installation of equipment at employees’ workstations
- Support for the migration to the Microsoft 365 environment

What were the challenges Bechtle was confronted with?
The biggest challenge was to realise the project within just two months. All standard aspects could be implemented quite quickly, but when a customisation was required, the two parties had to work together to find a solution. An example for this is devices that are used by multiple members of the team, which falls outside what is considered as ‘standard’.
How did the project go?
Everything went very smoothly despite the tight timeline. 1,800 employees were given new devices within just two months with four locations set up where staff could swap old for new and receive some information on security. The feedback from HVO-Querido's employees was overwhelmingly positive as they received the help they needed quickly and efficiently at a location close to them.
The pressure was taken off HVO-Querido’s IT department during the project, allowing the team to focus on strategic and tactical issues. Bechtle was able to respond flexibly to our needs which made working with them an absolute joy.
