- Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
- My name is Nadia Rahmani. I’m 38 and I have a young son.
- Could you tell us about how you started at ARP and then Bechtle?
-
I joined ARP as an IT business engineer six years ago on 06 October 2017, before the company merged with Bechtle in January 2022.
My manager was very supportive and helped me grow and gain new skills and I was then given the responsibility of setting up a public procurement business unit, which is how I got to where I am today.
- Could you tell us about your career?
-
It was written in the stars that I would become a world-renowned fashion designer (only kidding, but that was my plan),
so I studied at National Conservatory of Arts and Trades (CNAM), where I got my engineering degree in industrial production with a focus on innovative fibres and textiles. However, this field is difficult to get in to and I didn’t want to leave my family and friends and move to another country, and so I needed to have a rethink.I initially worked as an engineer in the oil industry before taking a job as a project coordinator for an optical company. I then decided to return to the classroom to do a vocational training course in industrial engineering, which is how I ended up applying for ARP.
- What does your current role involve?
-
I have two objectives.
One is acquisitions in the private sector, which is all about winning over interesting companies to be our customers.
The second is acquiring customers in the public sector, which we handle in a slightly different way as we are mostly focused on pre-sales in order to respond to calls for tender.
- In your opinion, what are the qualities required to hold this position?
- The most important qualities are leadership, organisation, reliability, interpersonal skills, being able to listen to the customers and their needs and the mettle to never give up.
- Have you been able to acquire any new skills since starting at Bechtle?
- Teamwork and mastering the IT environment.
- What is the next step in your Bechtle career?
- I want to remain in a leadership position and share the knowledge I’ve gained with new recruits and anyone who’d like to learn more about acquisitions—both on a French and European level.
- Which three words best describe Bechtle?
- International, innovative and progressive.
- But enough talk about work! Do you have any hobbies?
- Yes! Volleyball, fashion and travelling!
- How would your friends and family describe you?
- Calm, self-assertive, cheery and stubborn.
- The film that everyone needs to see?
- Dirty Dancing directed by Emile Ardolino.
- Your favourite dish?
- Pizza!
- And is there anything else we should know about you?
- I love karaoke even though I’m a really bad singer (laughs).
