WHO IS DENNIS?

I am Dennis Veestraeten and have been working at Bechtle since 2016. My career started as a Hunter, meaning I was mainly involved in finding new customers. Over the years, I built up my own customer portfolio and grew from Hunter to SMB Account Manager, to Enterprise Account Manager to the Key Account Manager I am today. I form an account team with my colleague Laura and together we are responsible for around 40 customers.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS WITH FOREIGN COLLEAGUES

Besides our Belgian entity, the Bechtle group has other entities spread over 14 European countries. Besides my job as Key Account Manager, I am also, together with my colleague Toon, International Customer Coordinator. Together with my foreign colleagues, we handle projects of international customers. I am then not only talking about Europe, but also about the rest of the world through our GITA partnership. As a result, I have built up a large European network with customers, colleagues, distributors and vendors all over Europe, which makes my work very interesting.

LOTS OF VARIETY IN WORKING DAYS

My working days are enormously varied and I have the freedom to fill them myself according to the opportunities that arise. There are clients I visit regularly for the sake of following up on a project or simply to catch up. I also work closely with Laura, my Inside Sales, on the day-to-day admin involved. Think of booking customer orders, preparing quotes or other internal matters that need to be done. So you see, my day is full of variety and that is exactly what makes my job so much fun.

AS AN ACCOUNT MANAGER, I’M A GENERALIST

As an Account Manager, I am a generalist and do not have in-depth technical knowledge. My job is to ask the right questions to customers and then introduce them to our IT consultants. When the customer faces a challenge, I take a consultant with me onsite. I take care of the commercial piece and contact with the customer, while my colleagues on the back end work on the solution that works best for the customer. Thanks to my job, I come into contact with many different sectors and people.

THE ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENTS IS SUPER

There is a fantastic atmosphere in the office, not only between the sales teams but also with the other business units. Everyone has a lot of contact with each other and that makes working at Bechtle fun. There is a good mix of young and slightly older colleagues, which is a great match! We often do after-work drinks in the local pub a bit further down the road in the centre of Pelt or upstairs in the cafeteria. We also organise various group activities such as team-buildings, family days and Christmas dinners. You feel that you belong to a group and are not alone.

APPRECIATION FOR MY WORK IS WHAT DRIVES ME

What motivates me every day is the appreciation you get at Bechtle. The people around you really appreciate you. Recently, I helped a colleague who was very busy out of a jam and a few days later there was a Topperbox waiting for me. The Topperbox is an initiative from Marketing and is a kind of 'thank you box'. Getting appreciation for something you do for someone else - that's a nice foundation in a workplace.
