Profel, market leader in windows and doors in Belgium, has for years relied on Bechtle for the supply of computer hardware, including laptops. Setting up the laptops has unfortunately been a time-consuming task for the IT department. Profel for this reason recently had a Modern Endpoint Management Assessment (MEMA) conducted by Bechtle.

Interview

Peter Proost, Technical Administration IT Manager : We are a major window and door manufacturer in northern Limburg. We have about 1,200 employees. Our core business is the production of windows and doors. Since we have 1,200 employees, managing all those laptops is quite the challenge. Our employees spend several weeks per year installing all those laptops. So we sought to find a smart solution that would make that entire process a bit easier.

Sanne Claes, Account Manager Bechtle: Profel has bought our hardware since the beginning. At one point, they asked us about Intune, which was not really working for them. In response to that, we decided to visit the Service Hub in Maastricht with them, where they were able to see what kind of services we can provide to prepare their endpoints in such a way that they are ready for zero-touch deployment. But before we can do that, we must definitely discuss MEMA (Modern Endpoint Management Assessment).

Peter Proost, Technical Administration IT Manager: Bechtle came to perform the MEMA (Modern Endpoint Management Assessment) here, after performing a thorough analysis of our ‘as is’ situation. They used the outcomes of that assessment to issue us with technological recommendations. We definitely benefitted from the assessment, which helped us determine which direction we wished, and would be able, to explore.

Jeroen Huylebroeck, Cloud Consultant Bechtle: In today’s society, all companies work with endpoint solutions: computers, smartphones, tablets, et cetera. In order to keep those secure, which is something that must be done these days, we must understand them and be able to manage them. And that’s the question that people keep asking themselves: how do I do that? And if I’ve already done it, did I do it correctly, and how do I keep doing it correctly? It can be quite hard to take that first step. And this is how we arrived at the MEMA: the Modern Endpoint Management Assessment, which is an assessment we perform for many companies, in association with The Collective.

Arne Braeckman, Customer Success Manager The Collective: The Collective checks how clients currently manage their endpoints. Step 2 of our assessment is the theoretical side of things. How does Microsoft regard particular modern endpoint management solutions? What do they think may benefit a company? We seek to answer those two questions to determine what the client has achieved and what Microsoft is aiming for. This results in the drawing-up of a road map. We also believe in delivering a direct ROI. We do so by combining the answers to those two questions and getting started on a proof-of-concept procedure at once, so that afterwards we can have a debriefing in which we will draw up the road map of the next steps to be taken. We check which components are still missing, what can we do to include those, and how to get from A to B.

Peter Proost, Technical Administration IT Manager: When we are looking for a partner, we look for someone with a pragmatic approach, hands on, not a glib talker. Someone we can trust, and who can provide us with the things we need quickly. And naturally, we’re happy when we’re quoted good prices. We had already purchased hardware from Bechtle in the past. Now they provide us with services, as well. We liked that we already had a connection with them, and that they contributed ideas and made suggestions. We obtained some good results that way. Thanks to the provided solution, we have been able to reduce the amount of work we do on each laptop with which we supply our employees by 2 to 3 hours. As a result, our employees can spend their time on other useful things, rather than just on the installation of laptops.
