Discontinuation of
socket-based Veeam licences in 2022.
From 01 July 2022, Veeam® will no longer be selling socket licences for Veeam Backup & Replication™, Veeam Availability Suite™ or Veeam ONE™. This applies to both new and existing customers. You can continue to use your existing licences and request support from this date, but you will not be able to purchase any new socket-licences. The following information, tips and options should help you make the best decision for your business.
- Switch to VULs for Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Availability Suite – Choose full-featured, future-proof Veeam Universal Licenses (VULs) from 30 June 2022 and benefit permanently from a fixed percentage discount on the RRP for contract extensions. You can use VULs for all workloads—VMware, Hyper-V, Windows, Linux, NAS, AWS, Azure etc.
- Continue to use your socket-based licences – Keep your socket-based licences for all VMware/Hyper-V VMs and extend your support contracts. You also have the opportunity to purchase more socket-based licences to support future infrastructure requirements up to 01 July 2022. Use VULs other workloads such as Windows, Linux, NAS, AWS and Azure.
- Features: Full-featured, future-proof licencing for all workloads and environments.
- Licence transfer – Flexible options for transferring licences to the licence to be secured.
- Extensive protection – Backup of additional workloads including native workloads on AWS, Azure and in the Google Cloud, NAS, physical agents and enterprise applications.
- No tie ins - You can be sure you’ll be able to use your licences into the future as they are neither workload-specific nor limited to local infrastructure.
- Discount – Migrate now and benefit from a permanent, fixed discount on Veeam contract extensions.
A transferable licence for all workloads. Veeam Universal Licences (VULs) are a simple, flexible, reliable and high-performance workload-based licence that can be used in local, hybrid and multi-cloud environments and transferred between workloads, enabling reliable data storage. Physical, virtual, multi-cloud, Windows, Linux, NAS, VMware, AWS, Azure and other workloads are supported. VUL is a subscription licence or perpetual licence available in bundles of five or ten, offering a wealth of features with production support and all the latest Veeam functionality upgrades.
How can you benefit from VUL?
You don’t need to be a licencing expert. You can protect all supported workloads with the same kind of licence.

VUL can be flexibly used for cloud-based, virtual and physical workloads.
|
As with all Veeam solutions, you can be sure of the best possible protection with VUL—for each workload, at any time, today and into the future.
