Keeping track with Cisco.

The digital transformation is not only typified by innovations and new solutions, but also increasing IT complexity. Data volumes are on the rise making it easy to lose track of what’s where. The result? Data becomes indiscernible for end users throughout the technology stack and the sources of errors can’t be identified quickly enough, ultimately increasing the risk of cyberattacks.

Let Cisco and Bechtle help you solve this problem and bring order to the chaos.

of German companies report that they have fallen victim to a cyberattack at least once in 2022.

of enterprise applications are currently being monitored by businesses.

of technologists surveyed says that too much of their working day is spent trying to isolate the causes of IT problems.

Full-stack observability.

How do our customers benefit? We’ve already touched on the complex landscapes in which our customers’ applications run, but the feedback we receive is often that they have problems with the transparency of the stack and the deployed services. It is nigh on impossible to monitor everything that effects applications, which means that DevOps, AppOps, NetOps, InfraOps and SecOps teams need to be able to work together to maintain an overview and understand the entire stack, available data and the whole digital experience. We leverage Mean Time to Innocence to counter issues and help these teams collaborate and effortlessly and efficiently manage events.

Question: What does your team use to correlate application performance with the entire stack and link that performance with business metrics?

Full-stack observability fundamentals.

We use the full breadth of Cisco’s technology portfolio to help our customers get on top of their technology stacks, starting with visibility whereby we identify visible and optimisable data and monitor all metrics, events, logs, workflows and transaction metadata—including the use of open telemetry from each area that impacts the respective applications. With our unique external perspective, we go a step further and monitor end users’ application experience and business transactions carried out through it. While there may be plenty of providers out there offering this service, their solutions are developed in isolation. We offer full-stack insights for application and business cases, providing visibility not only into those areas that impact application performance, but also outcomes and offering end-to-end correlation and dependency mapping. We then put together a common context in all environments that affects your teams’ application experience.

Cisco’s full-stack observability helps our customers deploy new, modern applications and business services.

Want to keep track of your existing IT infrastructure? Then it’s time to reassess silo thinking in your business. Software, hardware and networks require a holistic solution to ensure an overview of the entire IT landscape and help you achieve your corporate goals, and Cisco has developed three tools to help you do just that.

To ensure a complete overview of your services, you shouldn’t forget your users and their experiences. These days, employees work from home or on the go, and when they do go into the office, they aren’t always working from the same desk. Conventional monitoring tools often can’t keep up with the associated complexity.

Thousand Eyes checks if your network-based applications are really available and can be used

to highlight what would otherwise be blind spots for IT such as SaaS provider public clouds and problems with ISPs. ThousandEyes comes ready with a large number of measuring points at the biggest cloud and WAN providers making them easy to use for all customers.

AppDynamics.

Why is my website so slow today?
Why isn’t my app loading?

We use application performance management systems to measure the availability and performance of apps.

Every good APM needs to:

  • Visualise various data sources
  • Use artificial intelligence to identify
    cross-silo insights
  • Automate an appropriate response.

AppDynamics combines all three in one solution. Leveraging AI, the architecture determines a baseline for your transactions and can then proactively identify problems and their causes, effectively minimising downtime and automatically preventing a recurrence of problematic events.

Intersight.

To be able to monitor a service’s complete stack (e.g. your website or a business-critical app), you need to know what’s going on in your infrastructure. Application resource management (ARM) tools are an optimum solution when they can be integrated into APM and experience monitoring. Cisco Intersight Workload Optimization (IWO) carries out this task in heterogeneous landscapes—cross-platform and hybrid. IWO makes sure that resources are automatically allocated and optimised when APM solutions such as AppDynamics detect an issue.

Intersight Workload Optimizer (IWO) also analyses data centre load, cloud usage as well as the resources actually needed by individual applications and then either recommends appropriate measures or optimises the resources automatically and independently.
